in the following 3 rounds Fabi had no chances to push for the win and specially in the second round vs Woodward he suffer so much to reach the half point thanks to his open king but finally Woodward didn’t manages to break the 4 years unbeaten streak of Fabi in the US Championship. In the third round vs Awonder Liang they reach a so equal alapin ending who ends in a fast draw.
And i’m the next round Sevian sacrificed a piece in Fabi’s castle to made threefold repetition to draw

Mastering Closed Positions

After 3 games without options in the fifth round Caruana faces the low rated player of the tournament Dariusz Swiercz and after his opponent closes the queenside Fabi develop a great attack in the kingside with some good piece manouvres to return at the top of the board. Swiercz vs Fabi YT

Battle for the Leadership

Niemann and So are the other 2 leader with Caruana and Fabi faced both of them in the next 2 rounds, with Wesley So he reach a completely winning position having checkmate in 9 moves in a easy way but he move so fast after reach the time control to lost the decisive advantaje and lose a huge oportunity to reach the solo lead. With Hans Fabi cames with a surprise in the opening to distroy the Niemann's king, maybe his best game of the tournament.

2 More Wins

In the previous game before the last rest day in his game vs Robson he tried to push the Carlsbad Endgame but Ray defend so well maintaining the equal.
Ultil the round 9 the tournament still tied between So and Fabi but Caruana in his game with black vs Shankland refused a threefold repetition in the opening to push for the win and his good actitude finally give results and he won a good endgame.
And the last Fabi victory to enter to the last round half point ahead cames vs Abhimanyu Mishra who is not playing so good and after 93 moves and many pieces manouvres Caruana took the full point. Fabi vs Mishra

Securing the Title

He reach the last round with half point ahead wesley so and going with black versus Aronian he conform with a fast draw and just hope that Oparin can hold the half point... and that’s what’s happen he easy draw vs Aronian and Oparin suffer more after a interesting opening idea of So vs the pelikan but he draw too helping Fabiano to win his 4US Championship in a row. Congratulations to Fabiano for win this strong tournament, for me Caruana is the player who was closer to Carlsen in the last 15 years and maybe the best player ever without a world championship.
