The Comeback Nobody Expected
After become world champion 4 years ago Ding Liren started to play very bad in all the tournaments losing rating every month to finally lost the title against Gukesh 2 years later. After that Ding disapeared from the chess world and he just returned for the chinese league but last week he arrived in Hong Kong to play the rapid and blitz world champion against all the elite, and then this happened...DRAGON CHILLING
China plays as local and they came with an incredible line-up to fight for the tournament, the teams are free to have players from all the countries but some asiatic teams as Uzbekistan and India too decided to go with a National team.
There are 6 board matches with at least a woman and a under-2000 player and this was the strenght of China who of course in the top boards they had some top players as Ding Liren, Wei Yi and Yu Yangyi, in the 5th board they alternate between the world champion Ju Wenjun and the last challenguer to the crown Lei Tinjgie. But maybe the strongest board of the team was the amateur Wang Zihao cause while other teams had in the last board the owner, the president or some random kids the asiatic teams use to have a 6th board who plays so much better than his rating. The Grand Masters Bai Jinshi and Lu Shanglei completed the line up.
RAPID WORLD CHAMPIONS
Dragon Chilling, Hexamind and Team MGD1(team india) tied for the first position but the so close tiebreaks benefits the Chinese team and they win the tournament, the victory of Ding in the last round was decisive to take the triumph.
I want to show a game of Wei Yi cause he made a solid performace in the second board with 7.5/12

The team india ended in the 2º place leadership by Arjun who made 8/12 in the first board, great performance of the u-2000 player making 10.5/12.

The Hexamind the only team of the podium with an international line up outplayed the Indian and Chinese team in their personal matches but other loses and just 1 point of tiebreak make that they just archieved the bronze medal. The nº1 of the team Alireza Firouzja was the mvp of the tournament starting bad with 1.5/3 the first day but winning the 4 games the second day, drawing vs Ding and Arjun to later win the last 2 rounds of the tournament and secure the podium.

Just after this tournament we had the blitz section with the same teams but with a swiss tournament the first day and a knockout the second one so lets see if the dragons taked the double gold or other team beat them, i going to analyze the best games of both tournaments in youtube so subscribe to learn and enjoy chess, bye bye.
