Blog with honey0x, the bee defense and variants

Chess PersonalitiesTournamentOpeningAnalysisChess
Let's talk about a fun and interesting opening today!

Intro

Hello everyone ! I am pleased to announce my first collective blog with the help of honey0x!
I've wanted to talk about openings for a long time, after my motivational blogs and my tournament blogs, it was time to do something that was more classic while still being original. there is no need for me to tell you about the best variants of the Sicilian or Carlsen's last game with the Petrov. other people can explain it to you better or less well than me. but my mission is to talk about interesting, useful and fun things with my usual good vibes, what better than to ask for the participation of honey0x, player, author, and blogger, she created the bee defense and she spends her time on the chessboard to play, to improve and sharing this opening .

Here is the purpose of this blog: we will talk about bee defense, then I will analyze honey0x games! let's go!

Why this blog?

well! first why did I choose to do this blog, to ask honey0x to participate and to talk about this opening: I wanted to do this blog because as I said, I wanted to talk about opening and analyzing games, in an original way, may not be as conventional as in GM chess books, but I hope you enjoy this blog! I wanted to talk about an original opening, something new, which is on Lichess and more generally in online chess and which is interesting, my choice was immediately to talk about bee defense because honey0x is a nice person, she likes chess and she gave an original name to an opening and its variants and she theorized it. being able to help honey0x in her work is a pleasure, and trying to bring new things is gratifying. honey0x immediately accepted my blog/analysis idea and I am very happy to be able to write this blog today!

The bee defense !

bee defense, the quality of a good pawn structure! the bee defense is an opening of the family of systems like the London system and the Colle system, moreover, with the blacks, the bee defense also has similarities with the Slav defense and the Caro kann, nevertheless the originality of the bee defense are: the A pawn moves very early, and the G and H pawns protect the castling by leaving space to protect the king or being able to set up knights to lead an attack or defend.

I will analyze a recent blitz game (3+0) from honey0x, where we see bee defense in a serious game!

https://lichess.org/bUtiVnBo

1.d4 d5 2.c3 e6 3.a3 Knf6 4.h3 bd7 5.Knf3 Knc6 6. g3 a line of the bee defense, the pawns a3, c3, h3 prevent the opponent from attacking with bishops, the center is taken with the d4 pawn

6..h5!? the opponent tries to destabilize the castling by trying to put activity on the kingside.
8. 0-0!? castling makes sense, opponent has previously placed a knight on e4 but moves it 8..Knd6?

9.e3? I don't trust the computer too much, regarding the logic of the position, this move is correct, it is also unlikely that the opponent will bring a knight back to e4. at this stage of the game, the position is rather equal, honey0x has a good pawn structure, and has already castled

9..be7 10.Re1 g6!? 11. Kbd2 bf6!? rather original, (missclick/mouseslip?), the opponent may want to take the center.
12. Knf1!? honey0x leaves space for her Queen, the knight is in a square where there is not much dynamism but this move is a good defensive alternative to create a "fortress" in castling!

12..Kne7!? 13.Re2!? I like this move! ...14.Kc2?? the idea is very interesting if there had been protection against the bishop (the opponent could play 14..Ba4 and take the rook) nevertheless it's blitz and this kind of move often happens to many players of all level, me too. luckily the opponent responds with 14 ..c5?
16.cxd4 frees up space for White's rook activity, play goes on the queenside. ...17.Raa2!?
the idea is to provoke an exchange or an alekhine gun

..20..Qe7? the opponent wants to develop the Queen, we have been in the midgame for a while
..22.a4? another alternative was 22.bb4

..36.Qxb4 all heavy pieces have been exchanged, we are in the endgame b+k vs b+b and pawns on both sides.
..39.bf8? 40. Ke5! the best move, honey0x has good control over important squares
..43. Kd7+? loses the advantage and makes the game equal, the knight was however very well placed.

.58..b5?? Heavy consequences, the game is in advantage of honey0x, the computer indicates +4.8! nice endgame where she found positional dynamism before taking and holding the advantage until promoting a pawn to Queen and winning the game ..80.Qxd2+ nice win! the advantage of bee defense and all its variations is that you can play them with white and black and keep the same solidity. if you are a fan of positional play, well built, with a coherent opening, bee defense and its variants are made for you!

Other variants

another variant of bee defense: American bee defense, the main difference is that the pawn g will advance two squares instead of one, it's original, risky but fun! Here is a bullet game

https://lichess.org/Mss7xo7C

(it's bullet, so I will only analyze the opening!)
1. e4 a6 2. Nf3 c6 3. a3 d5 4. Nc3 dxe4 5. Nxe4 Nd7 6. d4 h6?! the pawn structure is the same, it's a good alternative for your bullet, Blitz and even rapid games!

7.bc4 g5!? a daring and offensive move! this pawn can be used as bait (the opponent will try to sacrifice a knight or bishop), or as an offensive piece (if the opponent is castling on the king side)!
11..e6? the computer specifies an advantage to white, +2.0. but I consider that with this position, it is still possible to equalize
13..Ke8?? for the bullet, this move is not bad, (but the opponent could have played 14.f4 g4 ) and it would have been possible to provoke the opponent to the error by playing the black c-pawn and with the Queen on a good squares like c7
example of a variant (15..c5 16. dxc5 Qc7 17. b4 b5), black has a disadvantage according to the computer but it is possible to have an interesting position, where the opponent could makes a mistake.

here are the specifications of the other variations:

double bee defense :

(Honey0x blog) : It is a defensive opening about castling with double bishops.

Bumblebee defense :

(and as honey0x said in a blog) : "In The Bumblebee Defense the new modification is keeping the non fianchetto bishop held back instead of kicking it out right in the beginning as in the Bee Defense opening strategy."

Conclusion

here was a short overview of honey0x's work, with two game analyses, I will agree to do more if many of you will be reading the blog, first of all I would like to thank honey0x for everything she does on the chessboard, her work on her opening. like i said, i wanted to do something good and new, and i'm happy to work with honey0x!
I think the originality of the opening name can quickly popularize the opening, it's the kind of opening that puts a smile on your face when you play, and it's an interesting opening to add to your repertoire. I am used to playing openings of the same type, so I may have some experience which is useful for writing this blog. the defensive safety with at the same time an energetic offensive aspect of this opening is very good for positional play and the quality of the defense allows you to play without worrying about the moves of the opponent, nevertheless I was surprised that it is possible to have open, strategic positions as well as closed positions with a more tactical side. I recommend you to play this opening so don't hesitate any longer and be part of the bee hive!
