The Solution
A simple way to avoid these main line openings, while still getting fresh positions and good chances to outplay the opponent, is the Trompowsky - 1.d4 Nf6 2.Bg5.
This was one of the favourite weapons of my past trainer, GM Ian Rogers. I started playing it myself in 2008 as my 'weekender weapon', using it to consistently beat lower-rated players without using up tons of energy before the next game!
