Introduction

Do you find the King's Indian Defence annoying to face?

Do you wish you didn't face frustratingly solid, flexible hypermodern systems like the Nimzo and Queen's Indian?

If so, this is the post for you :)

The Solution

A simple way to avoid these main line openings, while still getting fresh positions and good chances to outplay the opponent, is the Trompowsky - 1.d4 Nf6 2.Bg5.

This was one of the favourite weapons of my past trainer, GM Ian Rogers. I started playing it myself in 2008 as my 'weekender weapon', using it to consistently beat lower-rated players without using up tons of energy before the next game!
