Game of the Week LI- Kollars,Dmitrij (2622) - Safarli,Eltaj (2579)
This week’s Game of the Week will clearly demonstrate the following principles:1) In the opening, fight for the center. Although hypermodernists described the possibility of doing this with pieces only, it is better to combine both pawns and pieces in most cases.
2) Don't trade your most active pieces without any need if you don't gain another advantage from doing this. The game Fischer,R - Petrosian,T (1-0) is a good example of this.
3) Don't play on the side where you are weaker unless necessary.
4) Symmetrical positions can hide a lot of possibilities and troubles for both players.
