ChessAnalysisOpeningStrategyTactics
I'm Andrew. Chess player from Ukraine. I went up from 1400 to 1950 on Lichess and sharing my experience with you.

Plan for training

  • Your learning goal
  • The first step in "Opening"
  • Basic tactics
  • Typical endgame positions
  • Basic rules of chess
  • Welcome to "Chess Strategy"

Intro

Before we start, I have to explain a couple of points.
I try to describe the order and the blocks of knowledge that helped me to play better.
You can, and you should, analyze what I have written and adjust for yourself.
I hope this plan will help you.

Your plan

Your learning goal

Please, set a small goal for yourself.
This is important because there are many difficult things in teaching chess, and this goal will keep you going.

Exemples:

  • Increase the rating by 200 points.
  • Win a city chess tournament.
  • Defeat your father in chess, who always wins.
  • Obtain the title of International Master
  • etc.

Сause of this goal, you started studying chess.

My experiense:
I want to obtain the title of Candidate Master (shortened as CM)

The first step in "Opening"

You should start by studying the names of the openings. Only names, only first moves :)
It's cool because, first of all, you'll learn the names.
Secondly, you will see what initial moves the chess players use.

I recommend starting with these:

  • Scotch Game
  • French Defense
  • Queen's Gambit
  • Italian Game
  • Philidor Defense
  • King's Gambit
  • Sicilian Defense
  • Caro–Kann Defense
  • Scandinavian Defense
  • Indian Defense

Basic tactics

There are quite a few tricks in chess.
I advise you to see how they look.
It's super easy because there is a link:
https://lichess.org/practice
Here you can see all tactics trics and practice.

Or use this list:

  • The Pin
  • The Fork
  • The Skewer
  • Double Check
  • Discovered Attacks
  • Overloaded Pieces
  • Greek Gift
  • Opposition

Typical endgame positions

The theme of the endgames is very complex and very big.
But you can start from: Typical endgame positions
These are simple matte positions:

  • with Rooks
  • with Queen
  • with Rook and Knight
  • with 2 Bishops
  • etc.

It's positions like this:

Basic rules of chess

I described these rules in the last article.
Therefore, I will just list:

  • Stages of a chess game
  • Each move matters as a whole
  • Develop your pieces
  • Each figure has its own desires!
  • Chess is, after all, a game not about speed, but about depth.

Or read full here.
Yeap. My blog.

Welcome to "Chess Strategy"

The main thing is to understand that chess is a very interesting game.
You must learn to play chess with soul, with opinion, with views, with interest, with your ideas.
This is the chess strategy at the very beginning of your journey.
Then you will understand what is: weak fields, play in the center, positional sacrifice, etc.
But for now, just start playing with pleasure.

Think like this during the game:

  • If the opponent does not have any valid moves left? Where can he go? Nowhere. That is, he is trapped.
  • If I distract him on the left, he will be weakened on the right.
  • I don't want to count anything, I'll make a safe move.

It seems to me that it will be enough for a start.

In the next post I will describe a more advanced level.

I hope you enjoyed reading :) Good games to you
