A new variant I invented that lets you upgrade your pieces when you capture!
When actual units win in battle they get better but my bishop that captured the enemy Queen wins only honour. So... The Rules: After you capture you can upgrade the current piece. Choose a new ability (moving like a knight, bishop or rook) to add to your piece. This means you can make archbishops (bishop + knight), chancellors (rook + knight) and superqueens (knight + bishop + rook) All possible upgrades: Pawn -> Knight, Bishop or Rook (loses pawn abilities, including promotion) Knight -> Archbishop or Chancellor Bishop -> Archbishop or Queen Rook -> Chancellor or Queen Archbishop -> SuperQueen Chancellor -> SuperQueen Queen -> SuperQueen Special Rules:
King can’t be upgraded
Pawns can promote to knight, bishop, rook, Archbishop, Chancellor or Queen (NOT SuperQueen)
If they capture promote you can pick an upgrade as well (allowing you to get superqueens)
