Start of the tournament: a stormy start and immediate problems

The tournament started at 18:00 CET and it was clear from the first minutes that it was going to be a brutal battle. After just four minutes, the Czech National Team .1 fell into a deep deficit - their opponents quickly built a lead of over 90 points. The situation did not improve and after 30 minutes the difference was already more than 120 points.

But that wasn't the only problem. The Olympus bots, a key part of the team's strategy, ran into the technical limits of Lichess. Three of them started facing repeated API request overloads, which had a fatal impact - as soon as one dropped out, Lichess automatically deactivated all six! This meant 15-minute lockouts for the entire bot arsenal, further widening the gap between the Czech National Team .1 and the rest of the starting field.

This seemingly unsolvable problem sounded like a verdict. But instead of the team crumbling under the pressure, the idea of a comeback that no one expected began to form in their minds...

Fighting Against Time: How a Legend Is Born

The Czech national team .1. wasn't just in trouble. It was on the verge of collapse.

The Olympus bots, the team's main engine, were trapped in technical problems. Three of them dropped out due to API overload, but that was just the beginning of the nightmare. As soon as the first one fell, Lichess immediately deactivated all six!

Disaster. The team had no backup strategy - there was nowhere to take points, no one to play. The Czech national .1 team was basically wiped out of the tournament. And the score? It was sinking deeper and deeper.

After an interminable 15 minutes of darkness, the Bots finally got back into the game. Only... another blow! The Lichess API failed again, and all six Olympuses disappeared from the battlefield once more.

Four times in a row! Four times the team found itself without its main force!

For almost the entire first hour of the tournament, the opponents played against ghosts. The Czech national team .1. was practically non-existent.

But then came a rescue from an unexpected direction.

With Olympus out of commission, Safard's bots became a key support for the team. While the main force was quarantined, Safard's bots pulled the team on their shoulders and kept them afloat at the worst possible moment.

Without them, the plunge into darkness would have been irreversible.

And not just them. The Slovak SHOCKY_BOT from the operator @jopo12321 was also a huge support. Not only did it hold points, but it helped keep the team in the game while the Olympus bots struggled with cooldowns.

This was a moment when it was clear that the Czech National .1 team would not go down without a fight.

And when the Olympus bots finally came back, they came back like chess beasts.

Revenge could begin.
The turning point in the tournament: The return of Olympus and a flurry of points

With 40 minutes left in the tournament, things began to change. The Olympus bots were finally back and the moment came when the "losing team" became a dangerous predator.

While the other teams began to slow down, the Czech National Team .1. stepped on the gas all the way to the floor. Every game was a point gain, every move part of a perfect comeback. And the opponents? They could only watch their lead disappear.

120 points down to 80. Then to 50. Then to 20. And then...

The Czech national team .1. tied the score!

At this point, it was clear that something historic was happening. But the team didn't just want to tie. They wanted to dominate.
Crushing finish: From minus 120 to plus 100 points

The last 15 minutes of the tournament resembled a live demolition of the opponents.

The Olympus bots - OlympusDominationCz, OlympusCz and others - were going all out, destroying one opponent after another. The human part of the team played with absolute precision and without mistakes. Every point counted, every duel won pushed the team into more and more dominance.

And then came the last five minutes. A team that was down by 120 points just an hour ago was suddenly up by over 100!

By the time the tournament was over, it was clear: the Czech National Team .1. had made one of the greatest comebacks in the history of Lichess tournaments.
Conclusion: a story that will go down in legend

From the precipice of a 120-point deficit to a dominant victory by more than 100 points. From technical problems that knocked out 6 bots, to complete dominance over the opposition. What took place on March 18, 2025 was no ordinary victory. It was a message of indomitability, combativeness and the ability to overcome even the greatest obstacles.

The Czech national team .1. not only won the tournament. It showed the world that chess is not just a game about pieces, but also about heart, strategy and never-ending struggle.

This victory will go down in history.
