Atomic Shield

Hi guys I’m @KNIGHTBLADE_123 AKA TheDarkknight for those who knew me a couple of years ago. It’s kind of hard to express my feelings right now as I’m writing this but I feel absolutely ecstatic on my recent performance in the Atomic shield arena and ended up becoming my first ever shield I have won!

At the very start of the day before school I played a couple of hourly atomic arenas to keep myself occupied and I didn’t realise that the atomic shield arena was on today. I lost a lot of rating dropping from around 2120 to about 2080 so I wasn’t really in a good mood at the start.

After I came back from school i hopped back on Lichess and I got a notification saying that the atomic shield arena had started and I decided to join however I expected to only play a couple of games as I didn’t have high hopes to win it.
I joined the tournament on an alt account of mine called @Bezerker2000 as I didn’t really want people to know who I was.
As I started the tournament I started off brightly going on a decent streak and ended up on around 50 points after like 15 minutes and thats when I thought I should continue to play on,
I continued to maintain my lead but by then a lot of strong players had joined and forced me continue. I wasn’t in the best of places but the most crucial moment for me came against @Wilhem_krazowsky a very strong player who I have immense respect for. I wasn’t expecting to win this match but I ended up winning and it gave me a huge motivation boost! And so I continued

and so I continued but then I had a lot of rocky periods where I lost concentration and there were times where I thought I was actually going to lose this but then I found myself up over 100 points at certain periods and this motivated me to move forward.
I then controlled the tournament and maintained the lead from start to finish which was one of the most mentally challenging things I have ever done.
As a result, I want to say that I am very happy to win this rather difficult tournament and I very delighted with it. I would like to thank all those that stood by me and motivated me to keep on going! Overall it was a fantastic and enjoyable tournament! All my practice has lead to this being my first victory!
