The Kasparov Gambit
One of my favourite games of Garry Kasparov featuring an "Octopus Knight"Hi all
Here is one of my favorite games of Garry Kasparov:
( My Kasparov playlist: http://kingscrusher.tv/garrykasparovchess
My Karpov playlist: http://kingscrusher.tv/karpov )
Black's piece activity was soon quite high. Karpov's Be2-f3 does leave the d3 square weaker:
With b5 being played, Nc4 was prevented leaving the a3 Knight a bit dim as the saying goes:
" A knight on the rim is dim"
The "Octopus Knight" uses the d3 central square:
White's knights look as though they have had a bit of a rough night out and a bit tired the next day:
g5 really asks what White is doing:

Amazing piece quality contrast especially the Knights:

Takeaway points
- The Kasparov Gambit is very interesting!
- Such gambits have downsides if one knows the antidote - so tend to be rare usages at a high level but maybe good for our bullet and blitz chess at lichess :)
- If you can get better quality knights than the opponent, the results can be amazing
- Some World championship games are mega exciting and high profile
- The Sicilian defense is full of very interesting variations to try out with Black!
Hope you enjoyed this blog :). Any likes and follows are really appreciated. Also, I also have some interesting chess courses at https://kingscrusher.tv/chesscourses to check out.
