The most common Sicilian Defence Trap!
300,000+ online players have fallen into this trap!Hi all
There is a trap in the Sicilian defense which most online players routinely fall into
Video annotation here
It occurs here:

Black has made the modest-looking move a6 super early
White has not discerned the differences from other Sicilian variations and most online players routinely play d4 now:

In fact, black can now play to exploit this move :)
Nf6 here:
https://lichess.org/study/QhmfSxKY/pXiMBIwu#8
White cannot play e5 because that is another trap - if e5 then Qe5+ picks up the e5 pawn
So say Nc3 then e5

Nf3 Bb4

And black has nearly FULLY EQUALISED!
Key takeaway points
- Online players are not as ruthlessly discerning as some Over the board masters
- The O'Kelly variation requires White to use a different approach like c3 or c4 instead of the standard looking d4 move
- It is funny how we stop becoming discerning because something looks very familiar and routine but actually is not
