Chess: Tactics V.S Strategy

TacticsStrategy
Hello. Larry here. I have coached some kids, being a kid myself. One of my friends got 2357 puzzle rating under my coaching!

Larry here,
Strategy is thinking long term. For example:

  1. trading bishop for knight to double your opponent's pawns
  2. trading a passive minor piece for a active minor
  3. trading the clamp if your playing hypermodern
  4. building up for a pawn storm

Tactics think short term, and are easier to see.

  1. fork
  2. pin
  3. skewer
  4. discovered attack
  5. zugzwang
  6. combined tactics

That is all for now.
See you in my next blog!
