HELLO GUYS I AM GOING TO TELL ABOUT HOW TO PLAY CHESS FOR BEGINNERS

. ABOUT CHESS

Chess is a two-player strategy game played on a board, where the goal is to trap the opponent's king in "checkmate". Each player starts with 16 pieces: 8 pawns, 2 rooks, 2 knights, 2 bishops, 1 queen, and 1 king. Key strategies for beginners include controlling the centre, developing pieces early, and protecting the king by castling.

1. Setting Up the Board

  • Orientation: Ensure a light-coloured square is in the bottom-right corner.
  • Back Row: Rooks in the corners, then Knights, then Bishops.
  • Queen & King: The Queen goes on her own colour (white queen on light square, black queen on dark), and the king goes next to her.
  • Pawns: All eight pawns fill the second row (rank).

2. How the Pieces Move

  • King: Moves one square in any direction.
  • Queen: Moves any number of squares straight or diagonally.
  • Rook: Moves any number of squares horizontally or vertically.
  • Bishop: Moves any number of squares diagonally; stays on the same colour.
  • Knight: Moves in an 'L' shape: two squares in a cardinal direction, then one square perpendicular. It is the only piece that can jump over others.
  • Pawn: Moves forward one square (or two on its first move). It captures diagonally forward.

3. Basic Rules & Special Moves

  • First Move: White always moves first.
  • Capture: Land on an opponent's piece to remove it.
  • Check: When a king is under direct attack.
  • Checkmate: When a king is in check and cannot escape. This wins the game.
  • Castling: A move to protect the king and activate a rook. The king moves two squares toward a rook, and the rook hops over the king.
  • Pawn Promotion: If a pawn reaches the opposite end, it can become a Queen, Rook, Bishop, or knight. Chess.com +4

4. Beginner Strategy (Opening Phase)

  • Control the centre: Move pawns to the middle (e.g., e4 or d4) to control key squares.
  • Develop Pieces: Get knights and bishops off the back row to active squares.
  • King Safety: Castle early to get the king behind a wall of pawns.
  • Don't Waste Time: Avoid moving the same piece multiple times in the opening.

5. How to Start Learning

  • Play against a computer or beginner friend.
  • Use free resources like Chess.com or Lichess.org.
  • Study your mistakes after each game.
