Second Jaffna International Chess Championship - 2024

Sri Lanka is an island located south of India. Jaffna is located in northern province of Sri Lanka.
Jaffna District Chess Association (JDCA) of Sri Lanka invites for the Second Jaffna International Chess Championship to be held from 30 November 2024 to 04 Dec 2024 at Chelva Place, Jaffna, Sri Lanka organized by the JDCA in collaboration with Chess Federation of Sri Lanka (CFCL) and FIDE. Cash prize over 2.4 million Sri Lankan Rupes (LKR) to be won with 150 categories. Place in ideally located Jaffna- KKS bus route and ample of transport available via tuk-tuks that can also booked with various online booking apps like JRIDE or pickme. Chelva place can accommodate 800 participants easily with fully air conditioned. Jaffna is a multi-ethnic city where you can visit Hindu, Chrisitan, Buddhist and Islamic religious sites.

Schedule

There will be Classic Chess (90 minutes+30 seconds increment) 10 rounds (from Saturday 30 November 2024 to 04 December 2024 wedneday) and blitz event on sunday 01 Devember 2024 at 6pm.

Entry Fee

All titled players (GM, WGM, IM, WIM, FM, WFM) and ratings above 2000 ELO are free for both (classic and Blitz)

Travel Grant

GMs, IMs, WGMs WIM having over 2200 ELO (2000 for women) will be given a travel grant of 150 USD or Air ticket will be provided from Chennai to Jaffna.
