The History Of Chess
Where did Chess come from? How did it start?Chess was a game developed in India around 600 AD. It was originated from a game called Chaturanga (a very similar version of chess, with slightly different pieces and slightly different moves). The game was then spread to Persia and the Arab world where it was slightly modified. It later spread into Europe and the rest of Asia such as Russia. Russia has always been one of the superpowers in chess along with India and China.
In the 1800s chess had a slight boom where many masters started the game and created openings. Chess began to spread to other countries and eventually the rest of the world. During the industrial revolution, 19th century, standardized chess sets came to production in factories. The 19th century was also the first of chess clocks and timed chess games. During this time, chess was a very interesting game where both players played very violently and aggressively unlike today where games can go on for hundreds of moves without a single-player attacking the opponent.
