Write your opinion.Preface.
This post is one of my ideas. I'm not promoting anything and I'm not mocking anyone. Let's go!
Din Liren. Biography.
In 2009, at the age of 16, he became the youngest player in China to win a national competition. Champion of China (2009, 2011 and 2012).
In September 2017, he became the first Chinese chess player to enter the Candidates Chess Tournament. At this tournament, he became the only player who did not lose a single game, but took only fourth place.
From August 10, 2017 to November 10, 2018, Ding Liren did not lose a single classical game. This unbeaten streak amounted to exactly 100 games and ended at the tournament in Shenzhen, where Ding Liren lost to Maxime Vachier-Lagrave.
On October 4, 2019, Ding Liren, having lost in the final to Azerbaijani chess player Teymur Rajabov, took second place at the World Cup, which was held in Khanty-Mansiysk. According to the results of the competition, he received an invitation to take part in the 2020 Candidates Chess Tournament, according to the results of which he shared fifth-sixth places with Alexander Grischuk. Was unable to participate due to COVID-19 restrictions in the qualifying round for the next Candidates Tournament, however, due to the disqualification of Sergey Karyakin, he received the opportunity to take part in the tournament as a chess player with the highest rating as of May 2022. One of the conditions for the invitation to the tournament was the presence of at least 30 classical control games played from June 2021 to May 2022, but by April Ding Liren had played only 4 games. Since the end of March, the Chinese Chess Association has organized a series of tournaments in the city of Hangzhou with the participation of a Chinese chess player so that he plays the required (26) number of games. In May 2022, Ding Liren took second place in the FIDE rating, overtaking Alireza Firouzja.
At the 2022 Candidates Tournament in Madrid, being the rating favorite, he took 4-6th place in the first round, losing in the first round to Ian Nepomniachtchi. In the second round, he shared 1st-2nd place with Teimour Radjabov, having won an important victory over his direct competitor Hikaru Nakamura in the last game, who was in clear 2nd place before the 14th round. Thus, according to the results of the entire tournament, he took second place, which gave him the right to take part in the match for the title of world chess champion, instead of Magnus Carlsen, who refused to defend the title .
In January 2023, he unsuccessfully played at the Tata Steel tournament in Wijk aan Zee, taking 11th place in the overall standings and again falling below 2800 in the FIDE rating.
In April 2023, in the match for the world title against Ian Nepomniachtchi, he won with a total score of 9.5:8.5 (7:7 in the main games and 2.5:1.5 in the tie-break) and became the 17th champion world and the first ever world champion from China.
