I have not said much about the 2025 Sports Day, so I didn't play anybody in any simuls. Instead, I have trained a lot with Stockfish bots and also other people who also will participate in the tournament!
Not going to lie...
I was not playing any simuls to practice my chess skills here on Lichess because of laziness, not because I forgot it. Anyways, I'm not here to tell and apologize that I didn't host any simulations, since tomorrow is the date of the Sports Day, and there is no time for redemption, so let's continue.
What I've done (pt.1)
Without the simul, I just stayed on stockfish and puzzles. Before that, I played some normal rapid, but for me, it just became a loop. I planned to analyze every game that I have played, but turns out I couldn't do that, and I did not feel any skill increase over the games. I moved to the same 10+0 timer for Stockfish level 4.
Lichess's Stockfish problems (for me at least)
The skill of Stockfish drastically differs from any game, and despite it not affecting my training games, it doesn't land me with a rating that I try to set for myself. I think my current 1200-ish rapid rating is not my highest rating that I can achieve. What I have seen from a blog is that SF 4 is around 1600-1700 rated, but that can't be true. Now I am almost winning every game with SF 4 that I am playing, and I only expect myself to be 1300+.
What I've done (pt. 2)
As I have already mentioned, I did play quite a few games with other players, who will also participate in the chess category of Sports Day! I mainly played OTB games with a girl, whom I lost to in every match, despite playing as white in every match. (She just asked to play as black in every game.) But, with the one game I played with her on Lichess, I won easily. She resigned.) This may be because of my unfamiliarity with the OTB gameplay and my familiarity with Lichess. I also played with my best friend! He's 1700 rated, unfortunately, in the green chess website. At least, that's what he said. Maybe it's because he hasn't played in like 2 years and his skill has very much dropped. I won basically every game OTB and actually, some games on Lichess because he created one just for the sake of practicing me! What a good guy.
