A horsey was lost twice in a row

Or it seemed so.
In this game with 17.h4 black would lose a knight.

The next game against the same opponent saw the following. I was baffled. Did I just lose my knight in similar fashion ?
Did my opponent learn from our previous game and apply the new knowledge ? I thought it was a remarkable and also fun moment.
After I calmed down I found a way out.
