Long before the online world took over, when chess was played in its purest form — on real boards and in personal diaries!

Back then, I used to maintain a chess diary to keep handwritten record of all my training games.
One of my regular opponents was none other than Fritz 5, the latest and strongest chess software at the time (around 25 to 27 years ago, late 90s!).

This particular game from that time brings back so many memories... long hours spent calculating lines, analyzing positions, and improving my game. Before online chess, before engines like AlphaZero, Stockfish, Sesse, Houdini, Rybka and many more in every pocket — there was only you, your mind, and the chess board.

It's amazing to see how far chess and technology have come since then, but these early days will always have a special place in my heart.
The foundation of every move I make today was built during those hours. Feeling nostalgic and proud to have been part of that era.

I am starting a series of articles on those days when I used to maintain "A Chess Diary" —
for all those games played against computer, or in some over-the-board tournaments, or sometimes against my friends for training purpose.
After playing, I used to analyse it deeply!

I still have one of those diaries with me! And whenever I see that, I am like transported back into those days...
I cant actually explain that feeling into words !!!
