Chess PersonalitiesTournamentOpeningStrategyChess
Do you want to defeat your opponent in just 9 moves? Then do check out this game played between The Beast aka GM Adhiban Baskaran and Czech #1 GM David Navara in the prestigious MrDodgy Invitational 2.0 2021. Though Adhiban couldn't qualify to the next stage, he sure showed us a cunning little trap in the Nimzovich-Larsen Attack.

The Game

Have you also wondered what is the Nimzo Larsen Attack?
It is when you open the game with 1.b3

The game starts with Adhiban (Beast) playing b3 and David grabbing the center by playing e5. The Beast then plays Bb2, attacking the pawn, David plays Nc6 defending it. Adhiban plays c4 stopping d5. Now with both the knights out, David plays e4, attacking the knight while the Beast plays Nd4. The next set of moves involve David playing Bc5, developing the bishop with tempo. The Beast then moves his knight further to f5 attacking g7; to which David simply castles.
The game intensifies with e3 being played by the Beast, opening the diagonal for the Queen to put more pressure on g7, and David moving to g5. The next move by Adhiban was the Cxd5 which makes David blunder with Nxd5. The Beast grabs this opportunity and pounces on his opponent by playing Qg4, with the threat of Qg7 checkmate and David resigned!
This game highlights the threat which is Qg7 mate, if g6 is played and this will result in Ng6, which is a beautiful checkmate!
