Co-authoring a Chess Game

ChessChess PersonalitiesOver the board
Is co-authorship with your opponent a better way of looking at chess?

I was listening to GM Gregory Kaidanov's excellent interview on the Perpetual Chess Podcast. GM Kaidanov mentions an interaction he had with GM Taimanov in 1988.

Kaidanov had just beaten Taimanov in a game as black. After the loss, Taimanov was gracious in defeat when interviewed by Czech media. He remarked of the game:

I feel great to have been a co-author of such a great game.

I have never heard anyone refer to a game of Chess as something that you are co-authoring with your opponent.

Perhaps this is a better way of looking at your losses, rather than being depressed and engaging in psychological self-flagellation.

The game is an excellent miniature. I am presenting it below without any additional spoilers.
