Friday Fireworks in the Smith–Morra
Sacrificing a knight and two exchanges – or Why studying master games is essentialAfter a couple of bad beatdowns suffered at the hands of stronger players due to elementary tactics, I finally decided I am going to look for the opponent's obvious moves and captures.
So it's Friday evening, and not a bad addition to our collection of Smith–Morra games, beating a 2172 with several sacrifices and tons of tactics – and unfortunately some mutual errors too.
However, what is spectacular is we almost followed the steps of Marc Esserman, who recently beat a Russian cucumber (player's nickame) online in almost exactly the same combination! Tell me studying master games is a waste of time!
