The evergreen Classical Dutch! And the game where my opponent allowed me, perhaps a bit recklessly, to cross 2100 on this account.
It is always pleasant to cross another mark on your rating ladder. However, there is always quite a bit of work behind your progress.
The Dutch Defense has long been one of my favorites. I played the Stonewall for about 25 years, but recently began to study the Classical. It is so versatile and dynamic, there are no words to express it. Absolutely loving it for the time being. And there is a study with (almost) all my Classical Dutch games.
But what if your opponent does not know a good approach beyond the first 6–7 moves? Then you could get a chance to expand and get a menacing attack. Here is the actual game with my comments and study:
