At Sixteen, still managing amidst the chaos, To embrace chess. Playing in a strong tournament, And to everyone’s amazement, Bagged the first place, By effort and grace.
Participating in the Hungarian Championships To play not for the trophy or the cash, The reward was food, Which you viewed, As far greater a prize than Money.
The concentration camp was the toughest test, To witness people returning to dust, Through Starvation and Lack of attention, Being doomed to eternal stagnation. Making chess pieces out of little bread given, Shows how much you were driven!
