New in Chess Classic is the 5th event of Meltwater Champions Chess Tour. The top 8 players from the Preliminaries will be playing in the Knockout. The knockout match-ups consist of 4-game matches on the first two days. The time control is rapid, with 15 minutes and a 10 second increment per move.

Tie breaks: If the match score is 1-1, two 5+3 games are then played, if still undecided an Armageddon game will be played, where White has 5 minutes to Black's 4, but a draw will count as a win for Black.

Dates: 24th to 26th April (Preliminaries) , 27th April to 2nd May (Knockout)
