FM Niilo Man Nissinen

I am an 19-year-old FIDE Master from Hong Kong, currently studying at Aalto University in Finland. I am mainly an ambitious player looking to improve but also passionate help my students improve as much as possible.

I have been playing for 12 years. I've represented Hong Kong at the 2022 Olympiad, the 2026 Olympiad, and 2023 Asian Games, youth tournaments, and the World Rapid and Blitz. I’ve played many international tournaments with a peak live rating of 2374. I'm currently Hong Kong's #1 player.

Worked with students in Hong Kong and the U.S, teaching mostly group classes and some 1:1 sessions.

My best skill in chess has been to fix my own weaknesses through targeted training, and I now consider myself a universal player. This also translates to teaching as I try to focus on the bigger reason mistakes happen and I suggest training to fix it.

We will start by reviewing games to check your playstyle and weaknesses. During the classes, I will be open to what you want to do, whether it is reviewing games, looking at openings, etc. If there isn't a preference, we will focus on technical aspects such as calculation, decision-making, and other relevant skills, prioritizing those that the you struggle with and the most important practical skills required during the game. In between classes, I can also assign homework.
