About me

Hello! I’m Piotr Sygulski, a 22 years old Candidate Master (CM) from Poland. My journey in chess took off when I was 15. Although I started later than most, I quickly developed a deep passion for the game. I had known only the basics before, but through consistent effort and love for every small victory, I worked my way up to achieve my title.
My experience shows that it’s never too late to start.

Teaching experience

I have over 2 years of experience working with players of all ages, from kids as young as 8 to adults. I’ve taught total beginners as well as more advanced players with FIDE ratings of 1800+.
In 2024, I earned my Polish Chess Instructor Certification.

Teaching methodology

In my teaching, I focus on three key aspects that I believe are essential for chess improvement: calculation, creativity, and resourcefulness.

1. Calculation – This is the foundation of training, especially for beginners. I’m passionate about helping my students develop strong calculation skills, as it has been very important in my own chess career. Mastering this skill early builds a solid base for success.

2. Creativity – I emphasize creative thinking to handle unexpected situations, particularly in the opening. A great example of this is my game against a GM, where I played a move on move 6 that had never been played before, allowing me to equalize quickly.

3. Resourcefulness – I teach practical strategies for finding the best solutions even in challenging positions. Learning to be resourceful helps my students save points and make the most out of tough games.
