moments like that make you want to quit chess
after this happened to me, like, 10 times, I started to recognise positions where there's a danger of stalemate and slow down and double check before making a move.
on the flip side, occasionally I'm able to turn a losing position into a deliberate stalemate. it's so fun and rewarding, but, rare. It usually doesn't work.
Don't worry, happens all the time!
If you had spent more than one second on the last move and considered what your opponent could play afterward, then you would probably not have made such an error.
I sometimes play rapid like blitz. Damn habit that appears in the worst moment. At least I am not the only person who do this sometimes.
To avoid that, enable move confirmation in your profile.
That's why I hang chess pieces on purpose to not stalemate, in a winning position.
@tpr
does move confirmation slows down your gameplay like when you are in time pressure?
"does move confirmation slows down"
