INTRODUCING... The YGBNC title. Stands for "You're good but nobody cares". I'm sure 2500s would appreciate this title. But, if you are a non-titled 2500 and somehow have friends, then you get the YGBNCBALYHF title, which stands for "You're good but nobody cares but at least you have friends". I'm sure this wouldn't cause any problems.
For 3000s, you can get the NOLIFESUPERGM title!
For 4000s, you can get the CHEATER title!
And for 5000s, you can get the... CHESS title. I guess...

There is already a title specific to this site, " Lichess Master" (LM). Not sure exactly what the requirements are, but for sure they are more demanding than reaching a 2500 rating.

@HighlyCruciferous I know about LM but it is for special people I guess

Well that's sort the point of a title. It's meant to be exclusive. 2500 on lichess doesn't quite equate to master strength, hence no reason to award a title for it.

Can I have a title for being 1300?

In this era where literally everybody and everything has to be included (including aliens, snails and those who identify as such, ) and where being seen to be fully inclusive is the only way to avoid being cancelled, I think it’s only right that I’m 100% catered for.

LM1300 has a good ring to it, LM1301 though is better!

Maybe if you play 10+ years on lichess, have 20000 games and 2700 rating you deserve title
Because some players dont play in fide tournaments

I think you would probably quality for LM in that case. Not entirely sure though.

I believe Chess titles could only be given when ratings are stable and should only be given when their is true evidence that a player performed all matches honestly. For starters, all games on lichess would have to be analysed. All players would have to be filtered by stable rated games. It seems a lot of work just to give out local titles. A generalised category letter built from a median rating would be more than enough. That way the median rating letter assigned would determine the tournament you could join.

When I hear title, I ask my self Master of what? The Sicilian defence? I see Chess titles as a promotion like a Military rank. A rank must serve a purpose. It's not a trophy. I see chess titles as a goal to reach, like a project milestone. Standings is more what I look at. The leaderboard can be seen as a goal to reach too.
