It would appear that one can reach a "relatively high ranking (oooh yeah, it's all about the ranking) without the fuss and bother of learning proper chess strategy. So it's very good for the busy person who hasn't the time for chess study. Oooh yeah.
Probably the biggest advantage is that it appears to be the only way to prevent cheating by using computer assistance, as the cheater would have to spend more time talking to his engine than doing his own analysis.
LOL
I can't tell you how often, as Black, I have faced the following line ib the Sicilian...
1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 e6 3.Bc4 a6 4.0-0??
wtf?? Do these people not even understand the basic principles of counterplay. Dude plays 1.e4 but has no idea about the open sicilian. I ask myself, why?? And it came to me in a blinding flash. Some numbskull has recommended the Italian game as a good opening for beginners, because it follows basic opening principles, and is easy to learn. The player is told to play to 3.Bc4 yeah, that's the Italian game it's simple! Problem is, dude has no idea what to do from there, because no-one has "told him" about the need to understand the subsequent middlegame. Counterplay? WHat's that? Perhaps they think that the Italian "formation" can be applied to other black replies, such as the French, the Caro-Kann, blah blah, blah.
Sometimes I think some players play correspondence chess only to fine-tune their bullet repertoire. Ooooh yeah, gimme a line that works against everything. That way I won't have to think.
LOL

What's funny is that there are people who try to rationalise and understand bullet choices. Obviously, you are smarter than your opponents and your openings are first class.

"So it's very good for the busy person who hasn't the time for chess study. Oooh yeah."
Ironically bullet wastes more time than most time controls & for not much benefit whatsoever

Bullet is as relevant to chess as Crazy Golf is to golf.

I just thought of a reason for playing bullet...
No time for your opponent to cheat!

The only benefit of bullet is to gain confidence in time trouble.
There is nothing wrong with the sequence 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 e6 3.Bc4 a6 4.0-0 you gave

The main advantage of playing bullet for me is I can jam in like 30 really low quality games in a session and pretend I'm learning something instead of playing one or two high quality games that probably actually help me long term. All this while telling myself that I don't have time for a rapid game obviously.

not many.
it can make you feel more relaxed, less under pressure, but of time only - in difficult positions that won't help.
in slow games you don't panic on the last minutes left, but can switch to blitz mindset without overrating time pressure.
