Hi Lichess Community,
I recently received this message after resigning a game on move 9.
"Warning: [[[ MAGNUS_CARLSEN ;) ]]]. Resigning games too quickly may result in a temporary ban."
I couldn’t find any information about this in the Fair Play article, so I’m curious — what exactly counts as “too quickly”? And what was the reason for introducing this rule?
Thanks in advance!
Cheers!

Play to win I guess, or could be classed as sandbagging

It's probably considered sandbagging, if you resign without any reason like below, it's considered manipulation of your point score.
Some people like to artificially keep their score low to be able to always play weaker players, that's considered bad behavior, for obvious reasons I think.

Looks like you discovered the new warning
The play ban still has the same rules, but now it appears in a popup
instead of just appearing in chat that no one reads

That's actually a nice change. Cool.

Great answers thanks!
I never heard the term "Sandbagging".
Would be great if Lichess had all rules listed here --> https://lichess.org/page/fair-play

in other words: you are purposely losing games

Why are they threatening to ban a game that they automatically started after I finished my game? I decided to play the next game, I automatically started it. I canceled it. They shouldn't threaten to ban me. They shouldn't automatically start the games. I don't see that option. It's up to you.

You seem to be contradicting yourself multiple times... In one sentence you say you wanted to play a game and started it, in another that itstarted "automatically". And the "I automatically started it" part I don't understand at all. It happened to me twice that I started a game accidentally (most likely due to a browser or application bug) but I have never seen a game starting on its own.
