Name : Echo
Movement: Like a rook.
Attack: Like a rook.
Special Ability: When an enemy piece attacks it but doesn't capture it, the Mirror gains that enemy piece's movement ability until its next turn.

So if a knight attacks it... suddenly your rook becomes a knight for one turn.

Nice thread btw, I love this <3

I was thinking about making a piece that combines the movement of both the bishop and the knight, so I came up with this:

Name: Knightshop

Movement: Moves any number of squares diagonally, like a bishop, or in an L-shape, like a knight.

Attack: Can capture using either bishop or knight movement.

Special Abilities: If the knightshop attacks 2 or more enemy pieces at once, those pieces cannot move on their next turn!

Name: rookshop
Movement: like a queen
Attack: like a queen
Special Abilities: you can sacrifice the rookshop to put a queen on the same spot it was on (does not take a move to do)

Name : Bob from the pub

Movement : can move three squares, backwards, forwards, or to any square, for example, two squares backwards and one forward — or to left or right.

Attack : none

Special ability : sleeping on a bench being inactive until the endgame, losing car keys and so running three square backwards to his king, avoiding capture from any opponent piece.

Name: Rampart
Move: Moves forward like a pawn, or one space at a time left or right, no backwards.
Attack: Does not attack
Abilities:
(Wall:) Once per game it can become uncapturable for the rest of the game, invulnerable. When it does this, it can no longer move.
(Underpromote:) If it reaches the enemy’s final rank, it must promote specifically to a knight.

I would use this to fortify my position when I want to play defensively. Or if needed I could try walking it down the board. It would be interesting to see under what circumstances I’d get mileage out of that.
