People are blaming Kramnik, and even GMs like Nihal are criticizing him. What do you all think?

Exactly

Maybe there were other factors, but I do think Kramnik played a major part in Danya's untimely death.
I really hope that FIDE takes away his titles and the chess community as a whole ostracize him.
You hope that the whole chess community ostracizes him because it's so morally reprehensible to bully or harass someone. Makes sense. Why you people can't see the blatant hypocrisy in what you're saying baffles me. It's so clear.
What if the same thing happened to him? Are you the next target of the chess community?

I haven't watched the video yet but judging by the fact that 99% of his titles say something dumb like "I'm quitting chess forever", it's what made me quit his channel, I'd say the chances are 99% that he's wrong. I'm going to give this one a watch though.

I still cannot fathom how people compare the Magnus situation to what Kramnik s doing. The fact that you are claiming they did the exact same thing is preposterous.

Magnus never accused Niemann or said anything before the case was settled. Hans was a verified cheater and in my opinion anyone has a right to feel uncomfortable playing against him. Imagine you and me play and you know that I have other accounts banned wouldnt the slighest thoughts cross your mind if I outplayed?

To be noted I do not approve of what magnus did and for sure there was room for improvement but comparing that to the dozens of hours of Kramnik analysing Daniel's not just games but eye movement and the words he used and the tone he spoke on his youtube channel. The podcasts and interviews Kramnik did about Daniel and others. If you have any sympathy for Hans you have to realise that what Hans went through was mild compared to Naroditsky who couldnt play chess off stream without people slandering him for over a year. I am sick of people saying there is no difference between the situations or that somehow one justifies the other. We as a society still struggle to balance the rights of freedom of expression on public faces as the consequences and the reach is on an a scale we cannot comprehend. This is not the same as me and you fighting on a platform here we are talking about thousands of people all led and provoked by Kramnik for one purpose alone against one human. This is not a moral debate this is real life with consequences.

Read again what I wrote.
No, the comparison is not proposterous.
No, I do not like Hans at all.
No, I do not justify anything. I just say it exists and will always exist. The issue is how it should be addressed. Surely not by censorship. Surely not by forbidding people to express their opinion.

I will not jump on the "cancel Kramnik" bandwagon. One dead GM is one too many and calling on the chess community and FIDE to "cancel" Kramnik is fomenting the very same toxicity that got Daniel into a poor mental state. In honor of Daniel, we can do better. What I will do, however, is to respectfully ask all players, including GMs, to stop publicly accusing each other of cheating without any significant evidence. One's hurt ego and hunch or gut feeling do not count as evidence.

Personally I think Kramnik is bad. Those allegations were baseless. Still they hit Naroditsky so hard. We can't do anything other than pay condolences, and hope for the best whoever took his life be punished.

I might be the first to talk about this but I think the long term consequences will be that going forward everyone will be a lot more reluctant to accuse or even make implications of cheating against anyone. And so there will be a time of even more rampant online cheating where people feel they can do it with impunity because no one is going to accuse you now. This will go on until people have had enough and there is a backlash against the cheating again. These are my long term predictions. And I tend to be pretty accurate.

It for sure is when you compare a guy who raised his personal concerns about a confirmed cheater which in fact is a very difficult thing to settle however misplacd Magnus judgement was to an online bully who pushes people to make danya's online life (and as we said before life in general since he was living online a lot) miserable for just existing. This isnt a matter of freedom of expression it hasn't been in months. Bullying should never be accepted not to mention this extreme.

The whole awful episode just goes to show that Grandmasters are good at chess but often morons in real life. They harassed an innocent man to his death all because they were incredulous that anyone could produce moves they couldn't. Nasty, arrogant buffoons.

We will make it through the storm.

I understand Danya's torment. I'm sure he never cheated. His mind was too great, and his sense of honor. His death may have been an accident and, if not, there were probably multiple factors. In his last interview, he said he had received solid support from his chess peers. He was grateful for this. I can tell you one thing, though, chess streamers need good moderators to keep out negativity. Kramnik's accusations were continually echoed and mentioned in Danya's chat. There will be professional and/or consequences for Kramnik. From legend to lout, from mentor to monster.
