Allowing slip correction

If you move your piece back to original square before your opponent moves, you can redo the move. You clock would be ticking the entire time and opponents time would be refunded. Only 1 take back per game allowed. No time would be taken from opponents clock. Time would be refunded for opponent if take back was done.

Possible to have this as an option in settings, and only available for people who select allow take backs. I seem to slip a move 1 in 5 to 10 games, and a lot of times it's a game ending slip.

You are playing bullet and complaining about mouse slips.

If you don't like them, play slower time controls.

@inventor16 Just use takebacks (with opponent approval) or use move confirmation. This looks like a huge amount of code.

Also, you play a lot of bullet and blitz. Have you not taken mouse slips to be part of the game?

@bufferunderrun @greenteakitten the thing is 9/10 times the opponent doesn't approve of the takeback even for obvious slips where , for example I move my queen to exchange queens and it slips one square before his queen. Even the lowest ELO player would never make that move.

I mostly play bullet because I enjoy it more than blitz or longer time controls , and I play on my phone so thumb slips happen quite often. I prefer bullet over blitz.

I also typically don't approve those takebacks unless I really, really don't care about losing rating, or it's casual.

Nobody owes you a takeback. And most times, people don't approve of those takebacks because if they did, they might blunder or mouse slip themselves later and they can't guarantee you'll give them the same treatment that they gave you.

Furthermore, it's really hard to see takeback requests in bullet, and they are really distracting, I think. For example, I like 1+0 - if somebody keeps on sending me takeback requests while I'm trying to flag them, I'm going to be really annoyed.

The best solution is really just to sigh and keep on playing. It's unfortunate, and I feel your pain, but the good thing about chess ratings is that they will always reflect your skill level. Aka if you play enough games, your rating will go back up.

You should not play blitz and bullet if you have slips all the time. No one owes you a take back no matter how obvious slip it is. In game like bullet you skill in entering the moves big part of of you skill why should some gift you with take backs if miss the crucial skill?

@greenteakitten really hard to see takebacks in bullet? I disagree, I see every one of them. I almost always approve takebacks for obvious slips because I'd rather play a fun game than go only for points. But hey, I'm guess I'm the exception.

@inventor16

I don't typically get takebacks, but I do see them. By really hard, I meant that if I'm concentrating on beating you, I'll be looking at the board, not at any takebacks - and when I do see them, it's hard for me to accept them while still playing fast.

In other words, I consider them annoying. But I commend you for being able to see past that - it's just that not everyone is willing to play fun games that don't give them any points.

I, for one, would love to finally get 2000! And sometimes that involves some ruthlessness ;)

Besides, like @petri999 said, part of the skill in bullet is in moving correctly, not just fast.

@greenteakitten it's actually really easy for me to see takebacks, because it usually happens after the opponent does an obvious slip and gives me a free piece, and usually there is 5 seconds or more of no moving because they request a takeback. Also focusing on enjoying the games is probably going to increase your rating faster than trying to eek out every possible point.
