Even though Fischer said he did not believe in psychology but in good moves I think his actions in the world championship match vs Spassky demonstrated otherwise. Chess is a mental game. of course psychology has always been and will always be a factor! That is why lower rated opponents find it harder to beat higher rated opponents and a bluff on the board can be reinforced by a confident demeanor.
