It’s crunch time as we head into the final month of the 11th Correspondence League – with titles, promotions and relegations all set to be decided.
The final three rounds will all be played simultaneously from Saturday, and the beauty of the format means no promotions have yet been confirmed and the only relegations are down to withdrawals.
Here is how things stand in your group ahead of rounds seven, eight and nine. A reminder – if two players finish on the same score, the following tiebreaks will apply in this order:
#1: Points vs. tied participants
#2: Match wins
#3: Sonnerborn-Berger score against group (not calculated in these league tables).
I’ve tried to include the various tiebreaks in the tables.
Group H (tier 5)
- GustavoParreira1351 P6 Pts 9
- lionelm P6 Pts 8 (superior head-to-head vs kochb61)
- kochb61 P6 Pts 8
- tititogepi P6 Pts 7 (Sonnenborn-Berger calculation required with MrPithers)
- MrPithers P6 Pts 7
- Pedaro P6 Pts 6 (superior head-to-head vs balinas)
- balinas P6 Pts 6
- RodLau P6 Pts 4
- kingcap P6 Pts 3
- Crazysiciliano P6 Pts 2
A super-competitive group! Three points separate first to seventh with all harbouring realistic hopes of promotion to the fourth tier.
Three straight wins have propelled GustavoParreira1351 to the top of the pile, although they face three crunch games against promotion rivals kochb61, tititogepi and lionelm over the final three fixtures. The likes of MrPithers and Pedaro may hope to take advantage of kinder looking fixtures to maintain a challenge, while balinas (relegated to this level last season) will need big results against promotion contenders kockb61 and tititogepi to stay in contention.
At the bottom, it is looking like two of the current bottom three will go down to tier six. The round eight match between kingcap and Crazysiciliano coiuld be pivotal, while RodLau must look to pick up points against three opponents higher in the table to stay up.
Best of luck to all competitors in your final three games!
