I was able to play a handful of games recently against the 3 Maia bots (@Maia1 @Maia5 @Maia9). What are your thoughts on this new project? What are some ways to improve the Maias to give it a more human feel?

Nice to read that @ashtonanderson. It’d be awesome to see a Grandmaster Maia(trained on only GM games) at some point. Lots of possibilities chess-wise and beyond. Great work on this project. Continued success 👍🏼

Idk how people manage to get games against these Maia bots.
Dozens of times they never accepted my challenge. Two times they did: in one they "greyed out" or "disconnected" before making first move, in the other the same but after like ~13th move. Mind you it was a long time control game, so I had to wait for like 40 minutes and it never came back.
Definitely not giving them another go anytime soon.

Sorry @OzyWho, there was so much demand earlier today that we were running into Lichess rate limits. Now the bots are working well, give them a try!
