The background blur

All Lichess backgrounds are now blurred. It ruined many good backgrounds, according to me. I feel it was better without it. Anyone else agrees?

Yes, I agree with you. In my opinion, many of the backgrounds looked better without the blur. The old version made the backgrounds feel more vibrant and detailed.

I think he means those nasty backdrop filters used everywhere. Just because CSS gives you a property doesn't mean you have to use it!! :D

On the home page, in quick pairings, It is overlapping the background making it blur, same happening in the profile. I'm not sure if it was a feature implemented by Lichess though.

even in this forum page!

Some of the low noise backgrounds in the gallery might be usable with no blur, but it's fundamentally a readability compromise and not a decoration. If you want to see text on a fully opaque background, use Dark or Light mode.

Light mode is useful if you want to play chess on your flashlight app.
