Ultra bullet 1/4 .
I prefer blitz as the time category. If I had to narrow it down to a specific time control then 3+2. I do appreciate having an increment.
No single shoe size has ever fit me perfectly, so I assume there’s never going to be a single time control that fits my needs, unless I use an increment, like 0+30. With that setup, I can play both fast and slow without ever needing to adjust the time control or even watch the clock closely, because I’ll almost never run out of time. I chose 30 seconds as the increment in case I record my moves; if I don’t, something like 0+15 would be enough.
In practice, 0+30 is probably the most “universally adaptive” single choice. FIDE even adds 30 seconds to their time controls. The minutes before the main time are mostly just padding, for arriving late... or daydreaming during the game, lol. What truly matters is the increment, it’s what ensures you won’t lose on time, as long as you manage it wisely.
The graph below shows how effective thinking time changes over the course of a 40-move game for various time controls, accounting for a small safety buffer and some pondering. You can see why increments like 0+30 provide a smooth and reliable cushion, giving you plenty of time to think without ever running dry.

Depends if it is online or on the board. 30 minutes for online, and 90 d5 for on the board.
