Vacation

Do you have a lot of surprise holidays? If not, you can just plan for it. But if Lichess allowed some sort of unilateral game hiatus, then that would spoil the plans of your opponent.

The unlimited time control works for a vacation, doesnt it? And if you mean rated games, just improve your rating when you come back. No need to grind it over the holidays

You can Play 14 days instead of 1 day. I think everyone could Play after 14 days chessfree time again chess. Otherwise do not play correspondence chess.

Why is everyone so rude on this site?

The lack of vacation is the reason why I don't play Correspondence here.

Maybe calling it "vacation" is the problem. People say we can plan our games around our vacations, or we can still play while we're on vacation, but it's most important purpose is to cover for unexpected eventualities (bereavement, being seriously ill, you name it). If it was called something like "time out", which is a more catch-all term, perhaps people would be more receptive to it.

I do appreciate that many players don't want it and would prefer that they and their opponents just play the time control and default the game if some serious unexpected thing happens. For that reason I advocate that "time outs allowed" or "no time outs allowed" should be part of the game set-up, like the time control is, for the players to choose when starting a game. Or for event organisers to choose when planning a tournament or match.
