sneaky ways of winning

So I won't be saying who it is, but someone beat me last night by distracting me by continually adding extra time to my clock when I still had 10 minutes in a 15+15 game. My clock was going crazy and breaking my concentration and I blundered in a complicated situation. OK, I'm not a strong player anyway, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Is it a common trick? Other sneaky ways of winning?

Why care about losing an online game which you can play another one whenever you want?

I consider this to be childish but it worked obviously. Some noob‘s skirmish I wouldn’t react to.

Edit: „would not“ intended

I'm more offended by that guy's game completion rate. Sheesh, there's a resign button.....

Because if I didn't care about the game I wouldn't be investing so much time playing it.

The incident itself is not a big deal, I lost some points but points come and go. That's just the nature of the (rated) game. I was simply wondering if anyone else had encountered this sort of behaviour.

On the topic of sneaky wins, can I just take a moment to state how infuriated I am at opening traps? They're perfectly legal openings and it just feels cheap, especially when I lose games right as they're beginning. It seems like I can only learn to avoid them through memorizing, but there are hundreds.

#6, actually that‘s the idea. ;) And I tell you there are thousands of tricks even in sound established lines, so hardly any risk for the user. Chess isn’t easy after all.

@Hatterix get booked up. It's not that hard. Studying openings is the (relatively) easiest part of studying chess.

Fun fact: at first I read „sneaky ways of whining“
