How to not get banned for "leaving"/not playing?

@pfisterjohannes Im sure your opponent understands that them waiting 2min for the game to end because "you don't always have time to resign" even tho its pressing 1 button

Well, i would much rather prefer a opponent that leaves than one that resigns. When someone resigns mid game, you often don't know why, if someome leaves you can assume they left because they had something else to do.
Waiting 1min is really not bad and i would rather know something than not playing for 1min.

"I understand that there are game modes where leaving is punished, but why in every game mode?"
because why would some people be willing to wait in one time control and not another?

??? Not sure if i understand you.
There is a time limit, if you reach it your opponends wins, no problem here. We talk about 1 or 3min games here. For this we have the time limit, so that a game ends on time.
People like me don't like people resigning opponents in non-obvious situations.
Not every playmode should be the same.

"The additional problem is, that lichess often thinks i left even i didn't. But there are times where i have to leave a game, regardless of this bug."

Thanks, but this doesn't seems like the problem, this happens also when i have perfectly fine internet. I assume the Lichess app sometimes does this.

One second to press a resign button to end a game is too much, but one minute waiting is ok?
imagine how much life could happen in that time /s
And no, I don't assume that they had something to do, I assume they lost connection or that they are very inconsiderate. "Having something to do" might be in the latter category.

Would you leave in an over the board game without comment? Wouldn't you consider that rude?

How often do you start a game and have to leave so quickly anyways? And for what reasons (You don't have to answer that. That's just my curiosity talking.) And if you have to leave so quickly, why does a short ban bother you anyways? You have things to do in that time, haven't you?

Playing at work (when you probably shouldn't be) and you are suddenly called into the meeting. Or the boss appears at the desk behind you and you quickly have to hide the lichess window, and you don't know how long he will be there?

Solution: don't play chess when you're not supposed to.
