If you waste time playing 70/80-move games in a clearly lost position, it's going to be a block for me. Especially in Fischer time controls.
Like, if you're playing an endgame with 4 pawns, as in the game below, it should be an instant block.

Don't get mad at them, bro.

Yes, this kind of gaming behavior often annoys me too.
Over time, however, I've come to understand that some players enjoy torturing and flagellating themselves – they actually need it. I then see myself as a kind of therapist, inflicting the necessary pain that these people require.

There is a mojo to "never resign and look for stalemate if you can't win anymore" from a couple of very influent YouTube content creators. It may come from this.
In any case, generaly :
- they have the right to play until you checkmate them
- if one can't checkmate from a far winning position, it's one's problem, not their opponent's
- you are free to block whoever you want for whoever reason you may have

You'd be surprised to hear that even GMs often won't resign

Sometimes people play until the end to see if the opponent is a cheetah.
You see, some cheetahs stop using Stokka fisha when they think they can manage the rest on their own hand. Then they lose like big time losas because they only 700 are in real life. I could show you such games, but we are not allowed to show off cheetahs, but I can show you the last game I played. My opponent struggled hard to checkmate with two rooks in the end. This is how you sometimes can see that they are not as good as they pretend to be. In this case my opponent just panicked because he/she had only 60 seconds left, and we all panic when so low on time, don't we? So this is not a cheetah, just a good 1900 rated human being having almost no time left and use PRE MOVES and struggle because of that, but if this was 25 minutes left on the clock you nose something is wrong. So I use this non-cheetah as an example just to show you the principle of mathematica:

Nah. As long as they keep playing I don't have a problem with it. If you can't close the deal and get a mate then that's on you. I like it when people play on and let me get a mate.
People who abandon in lost positions, that's another store. They should be banned after a just a few warnings imo. Very disrespectful to waste somebody's time.

A win should be earned like a paycheck, not gifted. I don’t believe in resigning just because the position is lost. Chess is a game of skill, and part of that skill is the ability to convert an advantage under pressure. Too often, people focus on the timer and hope for a blunder rather than playing the game. I don’t know of any other game where you're expected to quit just because someone else is in the lead.
If you're annoyed that someone won't resign, it usually means you're impatient or unsure of your own endgame technique. Many stay in the game for many reasons, sometimes just to ensure their opponent actually knows how to finish what they started. The irony is that the players who resign the moment a forced mate is found by the engine are the ones I find most suspicious. To me, it implies they’ve been monitoring the engine's pointers all along.

Depends on how obvious the forced mate is.
