Prizes for contributions to the crazyhouse chess community during 2019!

Hi everyone,

As previously mentioned in a few streams in recent months, a pool of $250 had been set aside to be distributed to contributors of content within the crazyhouse chess community during the year of 2019. These funds had originated from some generous players that had re-donated their prize money they were entitled to for completing the Crazyhouse World Championship (CWC) candidates stage from back in 2018.

This idea of acknowledging such contributors in our crazyhouse community was the idea of one of the CWC 2018 candidates, who chose to remain anonymous. Prior to this, we have generally reserved funds for players only and this is a step towards encouraging those that support the game in a large way with the content they produce.

The allocation of $250 is to be distributed in the form of 10 prizes of $25 each as tokens of appreciation. To keep this democratic, these should be nominated by the crazyhouse community and voted upon by the crazyhouse community. As we've not done this before, the process will form organically to some extent. Some very significant contributors may be entitled to more than one prize of $25 if the community supports this.

Could you please support your favourite contributors to the game by putting forth nominations by Sunday 12th January 2020. If voting is required, then we should aim to decide and distribute prizes by Sunday 2nd February 2020.

Examples of contribution of content towards the crazyhouse community during 2019 can include anything such as, but not limited to:

  • tournament organisation
  • streamers
  • authors of articles
  • developers of software or forums
  • record keeping and display
  • artwork creators

Look forward to hearing your nominations!

Cheers,
Jann

I do agree with catask nominations: okei, Finnisher and Mugwort
I might even add catask himself to the list thanks to the effort he put in creating this instructive study

https://lichess.org/study/OHSQPWgG
which I highly recommend to check out
gbtami also deserves a mention for his amazing work

I would especially like to second the nomination for gbtami and would be happy to accept a challenge and stream (or commentate on other matches) on the variants such as: zh960, capahouse (960 or not), and shouse.
I find these ones the most fun, but I don't have much clue about the more exotic variants.

I think Okei deserves it. He has donated a lot of his time to zh!

JannLee, okei, LegionDestroyer(for helping manage all the Crazyhouse tournaments) TheFinnisher, Mugwort. Those are the ones that definitely come to my mind for now.

I guess we are ignoring the top players such as @JannLee , @catask , @opperwezen , @littleplotkin, @thefinnisher to make sure that this is not another top player roll call even though they contribute heavily.

In addition to the worthy mentions, I would nominate @crazymaharajah for the amazing history of zh that he built with enormous amount of hard work.
