but if you haven't castle, one of your rooms hasn't moved, and you're up a queen and another rook against king, for example, you can certainly force a castle-mate without your opponent needing to help you, as long as they don't resign

U can do a check mate if u don't move the rook and king which you want to castle.
It is possible to do a checkmate like that in real game.

Not sure why people make such a big deal out of castle mates (if the opponent is down enough material, anyone can arrange one).
I would've greatly preferred to end things quicker: 21... Qg2+ 22 Kf4 Rh4+ 23 Ke5 Nd7#, for example.
