I am ambivalent on this issue.
Lichess does not offer a license system for studies. Once you publish them, they are free for all to see. I am also not really happy with the way copy rights are being used today, so the idea of navigating legality to study chess feels ludicrous to me.
There are some settings for studies that makes them harder to be copied:
On the other hand copy pasting studies made by others is imoral. Calling people on this may be necessary, regardless of how sour a taste it might leave. Yet there are nuances even in this. Chess is not owned by anyone, but if you copy actual work like comments and diagrams and such, you are clearly a thief.
Final point, once financial incentives are introduced, most of this becomes meaningless. Someone might write a fantastic study they have worked a lot on, but not care about money whatsoever. Meanwhile, someone else might find 50$ a fantastic sum of money. Also, Lichess can't police this in any meaningful way, either.
Still, if you have to copy-paste other people's studies, do it for the ones that promote LiChess Tools too, will you?

Agreed, but I never knew that he copies other people studies and even makes profit of it! As a study creator that’s a terrible thing to do.
