enjoy the game for it's merit within my own sphere of ability.

Not the only thing that stands out reading this, but I like to emphasize this nugget of actually most likely to make the beauty of the game also learnable in the long run, while not even seeking the rat race.

Also very well well written "I" voice sharing. I wish I could be so fluid (fluent), this is not just about style of writing but also the content divulgation and how parentheses actually help getting the intended structure of the whole text, pre-emptive distractions upon reading being asked to be postponed, I find it clever writing (in my type of reading patterns). Glad to have read this.

Incredible post, bookmarked to re-read when falling into the chasing elo trap. The why I took up chess had nothing to do with ratings, in fact didn’t even know they existed. It’s a beautiful game that offers so much and connects folks across the globe not even speaking the same language. Excellent presentation and thanks
