Damn tortilla domination?

The base of the cuisine is wheat, so bread, tortillas and tamales. Tortillas being easier/faster to make. But the same principle is with bread. While tamales are also a big part of the cuisine. They are a bit rarer and most often are cooked during the hollidays, as you can make a gazillion and store them, since no one wants to cook during vacations. You just reheat them. You can still find some one that sells them regularly, but a bit harder to find.

A torta is in essence a sandwich done with bread called "bolillo" (its bread, just the shape gets it that specific name).
There are who knows how many types of tortas. Such as "tortas de colita de pavo" (I swear, ill go get one now, I got hungry). Tortas de bistec, or whatever you want to stuff the torta basically.
Included tortas de tamal.

But, you can do "pambazos", either sandwiching the food, or just with the food on top of the bread. The difference being that the bread was bathed in a special sauce.
You can do "molletes" (mushed beans with cheese on top of the bread, add lettuce if you want). Called tostada if you did it with a fried tortilla instead.

And there are who knows how many variations of food on top of the bread, each having its own name.

So most of the things we eat are accompanied with bread or tortilla. and we tend to put the food inside or on top of the bread/tortilla.

Said food, regardless of how you serve it, it will ultimately and most likely be accompanied with tortillas or bread. Each having a unique name.

I agree, for each individual, their own country food is the best food. Because it is their comfort food and most of them have grown up consuming it

Mexico has a lot of variety.

If the food is wrapped in a tortilla, its a burrito.
If the tortilla its wrapped but not fully, its a taco.
If you have cheese inside the tortilla its a quezadilla.
If the cheese is on top of the wrapped food its an enchilada.
If the tortilla is fried and you put food on top, its a tostada.
If you put eggs on top of the fried tortilla instead, its mexican style eggs (huevos a la mexicana).

But jokes aside. There is a lot of variety because we have a country with lots of natural resources and an ancient culture.
My toilet after eating Mexican food:

(It's a joke)
