The Power of Self-Belief in Chess

I once had a dream of becoming a much better chess player than I am now. While I have not given up on the dream, I am trying to be more realistic about it. I know I need a chess teacher. I know I need to play more chess, preferably under the guidance of my teacher. Now, don't get me wrong...I know I need to play more chess games and work on my fear of losing. I will lose many games...but I need to stop being afraid of it. I am also afraid of humiliating myself either over the board or here on Lichess. I might not be a fearless chess player, but I think, someday, I will be better able to control my fears. I also know that I need to read books which are appropriate to my level of play. I have some books which I would love to read, and taking a look at them won't harm me in the long run, but I might not be ready for them.

@DoomedBishop I started playng chess at 41 yrs old to help me recover from a brain inury, so I tell you this: Nothing bad can ever happen on a chess board.
Losing a piece just presents me with another challenge - to checkmate them material down!
I played a bunch of games against the elite bots before I played humans, and it makes you indifferent to ratings...I hate playing against weaker opponents & always try to play against vastly superior opps, as stronger players will provide you with better refutations, forcing you to be a better player in the long run
