Aborting a game count as resignation

Aborting should count as resignation to discourage it. Right now all u get is a warning. Happens way too often.

This comes up frequently, but rating isn't a reward/punishment mechanism. People are timed out for continued abuse, and they complain about this in the forums, suggesting it is effective.

So if something comes up (say, a family matter) just as I'm about to start a game and I gotta go, the game will count as a loss? Unreasonable.

I feel like the majority of these aborts feel like a person changing their mind rather than a family issue because it happens way to often. @scarpentus said:

I agree but rating definitely effects behavior. If I play an u rated game the person is way more likely to give up etc.

I guess I would suggest a stricter cap then because it's still happening too often.

It was only an example. Others include emergencies, work issues, an urgent need for a toilet break...

Also, what do you mean by "changing their mind", specifically?

I think people habitually hit the rematch button without thinking about it after a game , then they look at the starting position and decide it's time for a break etc. I've noticed it mostly happening after a rematch is accepted.

I think this could be them trolling too, like after a tight win, they bait you into a rematch then abort.

I think aborts from rematches should be weighted worse for this reason.

I try to do my part and almost never abort.
